SAP, HR and Health and Safety Administrator
I started through an agency at the Newport Distribution Centre in 2014 and became a permanent Operations Administrator nine months later. Now I'm responsible for controlling and monitoring the payroll and health and safety for 11 locations. For me, it's the people who make it a great place to work. We have a strong working relationship and the management teams are very approachable and supportive. I can honestly say I enjoy my job and the business is ever evolving, so there will always be something to move on to.
Operations Team Leader
My job is to make sure the night operation runs smoothly when the papers hit the floor. It's a fast running shift and a fantastic learning opportunity if you want to progress your career. Things are always changing, such as sending out new items such as parcels, bread, milk and wine, as well as newspapers and magazines. It can be challenging, but I love throwing myself in, testing my abilities and learning from the people around me. It's a great atmosphere and a different scenario every night. The people I work with are passionate about the job - there's a real "all in it together" mentality.
Twilight Shift Team Leader
I joined in 2017 because I was looking for an opportunity to improve my skills and knowledge and to advance my career with a specialist distributor. I really enjoy working for the company. We're changing and adapting as the business grows, so it's an interesting and fast-paced environment where every day's different and full of challenges. As a management team, we have to keep up to date with what's required from day-to-day to the long-term. The senior management are friendly and helpful and we all work as a team to move things forward.
Customer Service Manager
I joined the Group in 1988, but I'd worked in my family's newsagent business from the age of 13, so you could say the news trade is in my blood! I love the fast-paced environment here, because no two days are the same and things are always changing. This means I've never felt like my career's standing still and I've always been encouraged to develop. In recent years, I've gained four NVQs (Level 3 standard) and I always encourage others to do the same. But it's the people I enjoy most - I still meet up socially with staff I worked with back when I started.
Senior Sales Manager
I joined in 1974, so the Company has been in my life for over 40 years. They've supported me to achieve my goals and I've enjoyed my experiences here. The nature of the business means my job's always fast-paced. The business is changing constantly and you need to be flexible in your approach and attitude to keep ahead of the game, but always be professional. I set myself high standards to work to and the most rewarding thing for me is meeting my targets and developing customer's businesses. I like working with customers to develop their business and increase sales.
What I love about the business is the passion for newspapers and magazines alongside the desire to develop our home-grown Pass My Parcel service. Although we work hard, I really enjoy working with my colleagues. We take pride in what we do, how we do it and the service we deliver. My team are as passionate as I am about delivering world class service to our customers and looking for what we can do better. It's also rewarding to provide learning experiences at all levels and seeing people come up through the ranks. After all, that's how I progressed through the organisation.
